Our Story
The Community Store dates back to 2016 when my family was living away from our home for a short period of time. It wasn't long before we faced a small problem: we didn't have access to a washing machine.
As we were driving to the closest laundromat, which was far further than expected, I wondered why we couldn't just borrow our neighbour's washing machine.
Since then, the idea has resurfaced in my mind at various points - mainly when I have to make a single-use purchase - but, in total honesty, I didn't feel capable of launching it. It seemed too BIG of an idea, something for a rich tech mogul to pursue.
Bringing us back to today, I can't say exactly what made me decide to get into gear. Perhaps it was the shift in consumer landscape towards environmentally friendly purchases or the fact that this store still hasn't been created... either way, here we are.
I truly believe that we'll all benefit from the Community Store, whether you get some extra cash into your pocket or you manage to avoid cluttering your home with things you'll never use again.
Whilst we await the big launch, please add your listings to the site and sign up to the mailing list.
Let's put an end to single-use purchases, Rae
As we were driving to the closest laundromat, which was far further than expected, I wondered why we couldn't just borrow our neighbour's washing machine.
Why was a laundromat the only option?
Why couldn't we just borrow some pans and return them spick and span?
Why did we have to buy everything?
It was in that car journey that The Community Store was founded.
